My Bio
I've been a digital artist since I was 14 years old, creating both 2D and 3D art. Initially self-taught, I eventually went to college for Multimedia, specializing in 3D modeling and animation.

Also, I used to be a digital printing professional and graphic designer, mostly for large soul-sucking corporations, but also did some freelance work and (for a time) ran an at home Internet print shop. I still own all of the printing equipment, including a 24 inch poster printer, a paper folder, small shirt press, etc... My wife has had words with me about this.

I made this account to post my old teenage artwork then add new stuff from time to time. Life has kept me much busier than I had hoped so please pardon the general lack of upload speed.

ART TRAGEDY!

1 min read
Every piece of 3D artwork I've ever made is gone. Everything from when I first started learning 3D modelling at age 14, everything I made in college about 10 years later, everything I've ever made, over 20 years of work, all gone. ... All because sleepy me stayed up way too late while running maintenance on my HDDs and accidentally misread something very important in one of the setup screens within BleachBit. I'm just glad that I at least have some renders left, and that I have at least a tiny bit of my work shown here on DA. I've been kicking myself all week about this.

I just finished my second semester at university! That means I'm just one year away from getting the CS degree I've been working on. (T_T) I'm so close!! As I was transferring into the university last fall I needed to fill a gap in my schedule, so my advisor suggested an introductory drawing class. "Oh, you used to be a multimedia major. This will be super easy for you." she said... Well, the time requirements for that class were far above anything that I was led to believe and it ended up being the toughest class I had because of it. (Learning ancient Latin was supposed to be the hardest class.) But, even with some 12+ hour days in the studio, I had fun making the Domestic Exceptions book for the end of semester show, and I now have some oversize drawings that I'd very much like to get scanned and uploaded to here, of not also framed. I decided against any more art classes for the next semester and focused mostly on fulfilling requirements, but very unexpectedly I ended up doing

Greetings all, It's been a while, but I've kept busy. More art will be posted soon (before 2019, I promise). I just need to finish it all first... (T_T) This last year has been rough, but it'll be worth it in the long run. Near the end of last year my wife got a huge promotion that faced us with a tough choice: Move to a new city and put my college progress on hold, or play things safe and stay where we were. We went with the promotion. My wife and son moved ahead of me and I stayed behind for 6 weeks to finish my very last term at Community College. (Two Associates degrees for the win!!) We moved to Seattle and it was FAR more expensive t

Thank you very much for the link, but sadly my problem is with the 3D Studio Max scene files, and not so much the trueSpace files.

The trueSpace files are a pain to export (almost certainly breaking in some way), but they are fixable and usable. However, the .max files I have can only be opened in 3DS Max. Even the link you posted for me explains that the .max files must be opened in 3DS Max, then saved as something else.  :-(

Regardless, I greatly appreciate the suggestion, and if nothing else the link you posted did better explain things.
